Snoopophobia

Okay, now that I am home for the summer a few things have changed.  One, we let go our cleaning lady.  Wow, don't I sound so uber posh.  Okay.... we stoped the two hours she comes to our house to dust, wash floors, etc.  It's not like we don't clean up after ourselves, but with C working up to a 72 hour work week and me busy with school we decided we did not want to spend what little spare time we had cleaning.  Well, technically C didn't.  I would maybe dust once a year if it were up to me.  But C does have bad dust allergies so he is much bigger on regular upkeep.
The thing is... I hate having someone in my space.
I fear my privacy being invaded.  I have considered one of these:

If you have read my blog before you may have noticed I have a tenancy to be
A tad possessive.  Never more true than when I feel my privacy is invaded.  I do not let people go through my phone, my pictures on my phone or camera, my browser history.  And I sure as fuck hate some woman I do not know peeking in my closets and drawers.
C thinks it is ego to think that someone is going to snoop.  After all, what makes me so fucking interesting?

So a question for you all... Have you ever snooped?

I have been tempted a few times.  Once I was "allowed" to go on a website to leave a message and snooped around, but that was not spying on personal things.

Personal shit.... not so much.  Probably because the one time I did, searching for a razor, found in my dad's shaving kit picture of my mom.  (And I really DON'T want to talk about that).

  1. A picture of your mum? I wonder...... :)

I snooped once by opening someone's bathroom cabinet and guess what? The stupid drawer started to play music which I couldn't stop. I was so ashamed, I didn't know what to do with myself. I wished the floor would open up and swallow me. I must have spent an hour in the bathroom refusing to show my face.

On one TV program the presenter took her bathroom cabinet off the wall, filled it with pennies then replaced it. When the dinner guests came round and was looking round the house, it was only a matter of time before you heard the pennies crashing to the floor. It was hilarious.

Never snoop Jamie, you don't know what's waiting for you.

    1. No indeed. There are some things you really do not need or want to know.

  2. Oh my that would not be a good thing to come across..

I don't like the idea of people snooping in my private things... I don't mind what I put out there.. but I like to keep some things private.

Oh... there is nothing wrong with having someone clean for you since you two are so busy... I am thinking once Valentina is a teenager, I will have someone come in and do this for me too... it's about quality of life... :)

  3. I don't think I could have a cleaning lady. Not because I would be afraid of her snooping, but because I'd spend hours cleaning up before she came just so she wouldn't think I was a slob, thus rendering her visit unnecessary anyway.

  4. Snooping is the worst. Unfortunately nothing good comes out of it. And if I ever found my significant other looking through my stuff, I would have serious issues with that. But the cleaning lady, that never bothered me. I don't really care about a stranger reading my blog for example - even though it is very personal - but when the guy I was dating found it, I felt violated. And even though many people around me would like the blog link and my views would benefit from more followers, I don't want to share. It would feel like they were all snooping in my private life, but if the maid read my blog, I wouldn't care much.

  5. as a firm believer in privacy- i am not nor have i ever been a snooper. i used to worry about snooping eyes, and had a few "friends" in the past who snooped, so, I used to put fucked up shit in my bathroom cabinet, like nasty pics and dildos with phrases scolding them. if i heard laughter, i knew they were snooping. if someone needs a bandaid or an advil or a tampon, fucking ask. that's it. ask.

    1. That would so freak me out. I don't know if I could be friends with someone who violated my privacy by willfully snooping.

  7. Okay, you left yourself wide open with the reference to the photos of your Mother, so I won't go there. Have I snooped? I'm sure I have as an adult and I KNOW I did as a kid. Nothing serious, mind you. No state secrets and NO personal shit. Just curiosity sort of things. But, at least I'm being honest. Do I like the possibility or probability that others have done it to me? Hell, NO! Great post, friend!

  8. I've probably done some snooping as a kid, nothing major that I can remember. I did snoop online once. There was this character who I was sure wasn't who he said he was, and I was right. Now, that may have come across as more than a little creepy, but it's surprisingly easy online! Just Google and BAM, you get all sort of info. I've never snooped outside the internet in my adulthood. Frankly, I just don't think I care enough :P
